Born on May 1, 1945, Alpha embraced life with an infectious joy that touched everyone around her. A devoted member of the Variety Club and a passionate volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club of Canada, she dedicated countless hours to uplifting others, embodying the spirit of generosity and kindness.
Alpha was not just a talented singer; she was a vibrant soul who found her greatest joy in the rhythms of jazz. Her performances in cabarets were more than just shows; they were heartfelt expressions of her love for music. Whether on stage or in the audience, her spirit shone brightest at the Rotary Center in Kelowna, where she would lose herself in the melodies, surrounded by friends and fellow music lovers.
In 2014, during a trip to New York City with her cousins, Alpha fulfilled a lifelong dream — she sang on Broadway.
It was impromptu and unrehearsed, yet she rose to the moment with grace and courage, and she nailed it.
It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and she drank in every second of it — the lights, the space, the magic of standing inside a dream she had carried in her heart for years.
And every time she spoke of that moment, it lit her up.
The glow of that memory never faded. It lived in her smile, her voice, and her spirit.
Some moments define a life.
That was one of hers.
At the heart of Alpha’s life was her beloved husband, Terry Anderson, the love of her life for decades. Together, they traveled across the U.S. and Canada, creating cherished memories in various places they called home. Their adventures were filled with laughter, music, and a deep bond that enriched their lives.
Alpha leaves behind her stepchildren, Darren, David, and Mark Anderson, and her cherished step-grandchildren: Jason, Kyra, Zachery, Lucas, Emma, and Jacob. She was predeceased by her devoted parents, Andy and Dorothy Gullickson, and her beloved brother, James Gullickson. Her aunts, uncles, and many cousins are left to cherish her memory and the joy she brought into their lives.
Alpha's passion for music and her commitment to community service were a testament to her vibrant spirit. Her laughter and warmth will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved her.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to performing arts or the Boys and Girls Club of Canada, celebrating Alpha’s unwavering passion for spreading joy through music and her dedication to helping others.
