DOEKSEN: Bessie passed away at home on Saturday, May 27th, 2017 at the age of 92. Bessie was born and raised in Kelowna. She was active in many community organizations including First United Church, Kiwanis, the Historical Society and she coordinated the Meals on Wheels Program for many years. In later years she enjoyed time with family and friends and her dog Tiki. She is predeceased by her husband Rijn. Bessie is survived by her nieces Wendy, Megan and Sarah McGuire, nephews Douglas (Gail) Gordon, Randy Gordon of Kelowna, Rick (Melinda) Ott of Vancouver, Jim Lowen of Vernon, Ken Lowen of Summerland; sister-in-law Mavis Holden of Kelowna and brother in-law Gerry (Helen) of Kelowna. A Celebration of Bessie’s Life will be held on Wednesday, June 7th, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna.
