Blair James Kirkpatrick passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2022. A young man of 44 years who has left us far too soon. Blair’s life took many turns, none of them boring. In his school days he loved theatre and was a bit of a comic. His first professional training was culinary school at Selkirk College in Nelson, BC, his home town, and a brief stint in Japan working at a ski resort. Being a chef was a profession that he excelled at and where he made may friends. He continued his studies at Camosun College, Victoria in Environmental Technology then at SAIT in Calgary where he studied Applied Technology Geographic Information Systems. Blair loved the outdoors, taking long wilderness hikes, skiing, golfing, riding his mountain bike or drifting down a river in a tube. Blair was truly admired by those who knew him as a kind and generous man, always reaching out with encouragement, a smile and friendship. We are grateful to his friends who have shared their stories with us and confirm that his was a life well lived. He recently moved back to B.C. where he worked for the online investment company Wealthsimple. A private graveside ceremony will be held in Kelowna. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
