July 17 1989-June 25 2024
It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of Bradley Tofteland, who left us unexpectedly on June 25th 2024, at the age of 34 in Kelowna BC. where he worked as a carpenter.
Brad was born in Chetwynd on July 17th 1989. He is the youngest of 4 having 3 older brothers who have all stayed extremely heart close over the years. From birth he was joyful, happy and fiercely independent. He always had a twinkle in his eyes and a smile. Brad found a love of snow/skateboarding and could be found on the local ski hill (Powder King) with his brothers every weekend during the season. When he was 13 he picked up a guitar and began a new passion...learning a little more of "Nothing Else Matters/Metallica) every night for what seemed like years. During grade 11 in Grande Prairie he enrolled in carpentry, where his apprenticeship began.
After working in Alberta building houses with his brother Jesse and a stint in the oil patch, Brad packed up his clothes, guitars, snake and bearded dragon and moved to the Okanagan in 2011. He eventually reunited with his now best friend Chase Hofferd in Kelowna, and heightened his love of music and guitar while earning a living as a carpenter again. Once reunited with Chase he was invited to join a band where he dedicated all of his free time practicing and playing, and they soon went out on their own and started a new band "Drop Dead Fred" that quickly became well known within the Metal Realm. They played many local venues in Kelowna, the Armstrong Metal Fest (where he also volunteered building the stage and helping where he was able. They also travelled to Alberta for a few gigs) Kelowna was also where he became a dad. Jude was born in June 2015, and 15 months later in Sept of 2016 along came little brother Leiv, who he loved immensely... The last few years he acquired a handful of power tools and found solace tinkering in his little shop trying his hand at custom woodworking with epoxy and a lathe.
Brad was an old soul with a gentle spirit. He was kind and humble and always had time for a friend. His heart was huge and he was always willing to help anyone in need. He made everyone feel welcome and comfortable, and ooooooh those hugs. We're gonna miss those hugs.
He leaves behind so many who loved him dearly. His boys Jude and Leiv; his parents Loyd and Crystal, brothers Jesse, Dusty (Bianca), and Kyle (Andrea) nieces and nephews Quary, Khloee, Raegan, Sylas, Lainey, Addison, Blaze and Avery, countless Aunties, Uncles and Cousins, as well as the huge Metal Family, and so many friends in BC and Alberta...and beyond.
The world seems a little less bright without Brad in it, but if we can take just one thing we all loved about him and try to apply it in our lives....he will shine on for eternity. We love you forever Brad and you are so missed!
