Brendan was born in Ireland on April 23, 1936, into a family of 13 children. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia, 8 children, and numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous relatives in Ireland.
Brendan apprenticed as a steel fabricator and went on to become a fabulous tradesman. After working in London for a few years, he immigrated to Canada in 1965.
He worked in truck manufacturing before working for the City of Vancouver as a welder and blacksmith. He was meticulous in his work and could do anything in metal.
After retirement at 59, Brendan and his wife Virginia relocated from Vancouver to Sicamous, Virginia's hometown. Brendan was an avid golfer. Together, they have travelled for the past 25 years: Hawaii, Mexico, many cruises to the Caribbean, Panama and Alaska, and Ireland many times. Brendan has sisters and brothers left in Ireland who are "lovely people."
Brendan and Virginia both sang with the Sicamous Choristers. He had a lovely tenor voice and did an amazing rendition of "Danny Boy!" In addition to enjoying music, he enjoys a good meal. One of his favourites is corned beef and cabbage with Irish soda bread!
A private interment will take place at Eagle Valley and District Cemetery at 1711 Cemetery Road in Sicamous, B.C.
A public memorial tea will take place at the Salvation Army New Hope Community Church at 191 2nd Ave NE, Salmon Arm, on April 26, 2026 from 2-4 p.m.
