On Sunday, September 14 our Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma Kay took her last peaceful breath. With family at the centre of her world, she passed away with a heart full of pride for each individual family member.
Her dry sense of humour and funny nicknames were a true testament to her lighthearted attitude. She always cherished time spent with family and wouldn’t hold back on what she was thinking.
She was well read and had a wonderful understanding of the world beyond her walls. She stayed up on world events, and with an empathetic heart, she wished for more peace and understanding in our world.
She knew how to make a house a home and did so by providing her children, in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren with hand-knitted sweaters, slippers, socks and mittens. Many traditional meals were prepared in her kitchens throughout the years, always delicious and always enjoyed by the family who she loved to spend time with.
Having grown up in Stewart, BC with her parents (John and Sue) and brother Ken. After meeting her husband Jack Franks, the two had four of their own children — Carol (Vic) Weys, Ron (Daisy) Franks and Jim (Nanci) Franks, as well predeceased by her infant son Keith Franks and raised them in Prince Rupert. The pair retired to Kelowna to enjoy the sunny Okanagan and to be closer to her mother Sue. Kay later remarried to Cec Paul, and they enjoyed time travelling together within the region, golfing and seeing the sites.
She was also the proud Grandma to her grandchildren — Matthew (Carla) and Lynsey (David) and Great Grandma to six great grandchildren — Leo, Mabel, Oliver, Hazel, Elise and Annie.
Kay — as she was true to her generation, had a quiet strength and a true appreciation for family, food and friendship. We will miss her constancy and her wit — we are thankful for the long life she lived and to the wonderful friends who have been by her side through the years.
