Christina Johanna Ruigrok Ouwendyk

Christina Ouwendyk passed away August 12, 2013 at Sunpointe Village in Kelowna, after a rapid progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in The Netherlands, March 25, 1936 to Adrianus and Maria Ruigrok, both now deceased. She was the fourth in a family of 11 children - she had 9 brothers and 1 sister. The entire family emigrated to Canada, where she married John Ouwendyk, who passed away in 1985.

John and Christina had 7 children: Barb (Barry), Mary, John, Ted, Tony (Kim), David, Peter (Karen); 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She will also be lovingly remembered by her large extended family.

There will be a visitation and viewing for the comfort of family and friends on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 9:30 to 10:30 at Valleyview Funeral Home, 165 Valleyview Road, Kelowna, BC. A graveside service will follow at 11 a.m., at St. Theresa Cemetery, Sexsmith Road, Kelowna, BC. A Celebration of Christina’s life will follow the interment at 3169 Appaloosa Road, Kelowna, BC.
