

Daniel Watterson, 63, of Vernon, BC, has passed away due to complications following a heart attack in December and passed on January 5th, 2020. Daniel was born in Spokane, Washington, USA to David and Brittie Watterson. His beloved wife Anne Parks Watterson stood by his side during his final days.
Daniel spent his youth as an avid camper which developed into a life-long passion for the outdoors and environmental protection. Over the course of his life, he resided in several US states. Ultimately he and his wife moved to British Columbia, Canada in 2004 and became Canadian Citizens in 2018.
Daniel was the Principal Hydrogeologist with Watterson Geoscience Inc. He had acquired over 30 years of geoscience, environmental and water resource experience. He was registered in British Columbia and Washington State as a Professional Geoscientist and Licensed Hydrogeologist. Mr. Watterson began his career as a petroleum geologist and had significant and varied expertise in onsite waste water treatment, disposal and other environmental sciences. He traveled extensively with his work; all over British Columbia, Alberta, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Ontario, the western United States, Africa (Eritrea) and Mexico (Chihuahua).
Daniel had a unique passion for mentoring. A natural teacher, Daniel would often assist and inspire others to meet their true potential. Daniel was a role model, and to some, heroic in his care of his family, friends, and colleagues. He was known to be exceptionally kind and caring to all. As a great lover of pets and a passionate advocate for the environment. Daniel was an avid outdoorsman leading to his selection of Vernon, BC as his residence due to its beautiful views and access to the natural wonders of British Columbia.
Daniel carefully balanced his time in the office with time in the field. He loved his environmental work and his family and friends. Daniel was deeply driven to improve the lives and the world around him. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Anne, along with his sisters Alisande, Meredith, Ame, Julia and many Nephews, Nieces Great-Nephews, Great-Nieces, and step-son John. He was cherished and looked up to by all and is now one with the world he loved.
