Darlene was born on July 23, 1932 to Jeffrey and Mary Fredrickson at the family farm near Dundurn, Saskatchewan. Darlene went to work in one of the local stores in her hometown and there she met and married the love of her life, an Army boy, Neil Manning. They were married on October 22, 1949.
She and Neil started married life in the army barracks at Camp Dundurn. After that they had several military postings in BC and built a home in Prince George, BC. Two of their children were born in Prince George, Colleen Dawn and Cameron Dale. They then moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where another son, Kenton Neil joined the family. They subsequently moved to North Battleford and the years were very busy raising 3 children
In the early 1960’s a significant life change happened for Darlene and Neil when they accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of their lives, and because of grace demonstrated His love for others until He called them to their heavenly home.
Darlene worked outside the home while being a loving, caring mother and a friend to many. She held administrative positions and then she and Neil started a glass business where she worked along-side him capably. She also held leadership roles with Christian Women’s Club and served in the church faithfully.
As the years passed they welcomed 9 grandchildren and her heart became even fuller as the great-grandchildren joined the family.
They moved back to BC to retire in 1994 where she continued to show her servant heart and made many friends. She spent her time loving her family, caring for people, tending her garden, creating a legacy of crafts and sharing her gift of hospitality!
She is pre-deceased by her husband, Neil Manning, her parents, Jeffrey and Mary Fredrickson, and her brother, Delmer Fredrickson.
