Diane McQuillan (née Nault) was born October 28, 1944, in Montreal, Quebec, and passed away peacefully in West Kelowna, BC, on June 24, 2023. She was always ready for adventure and fun and had unlimited love and time for all her family and friends.
Diane resided in Montreal during her childhood with her parents Roger and Donna Nault and younger siblings Fern and Ron.
Diane met Doug McQuillan at the tender age of 19. They were married in September of 1964 and travelled across the country to BC where they settled in the lower mainland where she lovingly raised her two girls Darleen (Steven) and Deana (Barry) and always enjoyed hearing about and seeing her grandchildren; Kathleen, Colin, and Sean.
Diane had wonderful memories of the five year long cruise she and Doug took to the Sea of Cortez, Mexico in their sailboat the "Tamaru". When they settled back into Abbotsford, BC, Canada, she cherished her time as a French teacher at the University College of the Fraser Valley. Diane loved her students and always tried to make her lessons fun. Once retired they spent their summers in the Lethbridge area of Alberta and their winters in La Manzanilla, Mexico. She resided her final 4 years at Lakeview Lodge in West Kelowna, BC where the caring staff very much became like family to her.
Diane’s enthusiasm for life will be missed by many including her loving and devoted husband of almost 60 years.
A celebration of life memorial service for family and friends will take place on Monday, July 24, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, at First Memorial Funeral Home, 1211 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC. The memorial service will be followed by a catered reception at the same location.
