Betty Yarrow was born at Kelowna General Hospital on December 31, 1937, and passed away there peacefully on June 29, 2024, one week after a stroke. She is forever remembered by daughters Lori-Anne Yarrow and Charlene Marie Rooke; sister-in-law Katie and her family; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews with their families. She joins her parents Pauline and John Schneider, sisters Anna (John), Emily (George) and Jean (Charlie); and brothers Bill (Katie) and Ed (Marg).
Betty was in service for many years with the Catholic Women's League, as her mother had been. During her decades as a nurse and community volunteer, she helped countless families to ease their newcomer experience in Canada, to care for their loved ones and to provide comfort to those on their final journey. Betty's final years were spent happily at Northwood Retirement Resort in Kelowna, a city she was proud to return to after spending much of her adult life in the Edmonton, Alberta, area.
Prayers will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, and a funeral mass at 11 a.m. on Thursday July 25, at St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church (1077 Fuller Ave., Kelowna). Presiding Priest: Fr. Obi Ibekwe.
Betty's ashes have been interred at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery (Section A Block 2 Row 24A L43 Res# 9164; Schneider marker).
Cremation and arrangements have been entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to donor's choice of charitable organization.
