With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. After a brief illness, Elsie died at the age of 90 in Kelowna, BC on October 28, 2024.
Survived by daughter Barbara (Will) Sherman of Victoria, son Ken (Leanne) Plunkett of Saskatoon, grandchildren Erica (David) Kroeger of Victoria, Robert (Genie) Broughton of Victoria, Kassidy Plunkett of Hague, Saskatchewan, great-grandchildren Abigail and Easton Kroeger of Victoria, sister Dorothy Steffensen of Kelowna and brother Harvey (Margaret) Steffensen of Nanton, Alberta, step-daughters Connie Hill and Lori Bowerman. Predeceased by husband Gordon Ironside, father Henry Steffensen, mother Ann Armstrong, sister Ruth Rabie and brothers Henry and Herb Steffensen.
Elsie was born in Kenaston Saskatchewan in 1934 where her father farmed. She moved to Saskatoon at a young age where she attended the Marvel Beauty School and went on to become proprietor of her own salon. Elsie loved music, especially that of Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. She played the piano by ear, much to the delight of those fortunate enough to gather around her at the piano. After she retired from hairdressing in 1983, Elsie and Gordon moved to Kelowna where she loved to cook legendary meals for family and friends. She was always the life of every gathering, never missing the opportunity to make others laugh and enjoy themselves in her presence.
In accordance with her own wishes, there will be no service held. A small family gathering in her honour will be held at a later date.
