Love.  When I think of Gertie Lundgren, I think of love and family. Our connection to Gertie is Doug. To know him is to know how much he loved his mom, how important she was, and is, to her whole extended family.  What a blessing to have her as part of your family tree.

I had the honor and pleasure of sharing many joyful times with Gertie. One of my most fondest memories is when I was occuping the bedroom next to Gerties basement suite in Rutland.  Gertie would supply the evening meals with desert.  One afternoon she was baking a berry pie and claimed there was some left over dough and filling, so she was going to make us tarts to have as afternoon snack.  When the said tarts came out of the oven they were each the size of a dinner plate.  Needless to say we sat down and filled our bellys with our treat . Laughing and enjoy each other's company .We made our way up to dinner a short time later to consume  our meal and then finish it off with each having a large piece pie. Snickering and nudging each other the whole time .  I was so blessed to have had shared the times we did together . So may joyous times I can keep close to my heart . 

We are all deeply saddened by the news of Gramma Gertie’s passing. She was a force to be reckoned with and we loved her for it. I remember how her face lit up when she shared  stories of lawn bowling with her friends and how she laughed when our son, Sawyer, would tell her stories. She was loved greatly and will be missed dearly. All our love xx

I will always remember Gram’s large dog figurine collection and begging to be able to play with the German Shepard every time we visited. Her memory will always be present every time I make her daffy cupcakes and hot milk cake. You will be missed Gram. 

I remember Gerties love of bingo from her residency at Fernbrae Manor.  She had an infectious laugh and a wonderful sense of humor.  I know that she is greatly missed.  My thoughts and prayers are  with you all.

Gram, I will miss you always. I have too many fond memories to list. I am so grateful for everything you have done for me. I am so grateful I was able to say goodbye, love you. 

Our Gram was one in a million! I have amazing memories of spending the nights with her and papa in Peachland, walking around her rose garden with her as she tells us what kind they were...  that garden was spectacular! Playing with my brother and sisters in that beautiful yard and eyeing up their blueberries! She had the loudest sneeze I’ve ever heard, it would always make us giggle. She would make us hard tac, cheese & tomato with papa for lunch, and we would all listen to their stories of “the good old days”. (I think they liked cards, family and a couple drinks 😂)
You had an amazing run Gram and we will miss you so much! We know you are with your beloved Eric and Papa now💖 Hugs and kisses to Uncle Doug and our mom(Donna), she loved you both so much!

It’s almost to overwhelming, the woman that took care of me when I was a child.. when I was at my most annoying and at my worst behaviour. She experienced so much throughout her life, and always focused on a peaceful perspective and way of life. I learned so much from her, I will always love her.  Everything she has shown me will be eternal.

It is with a heavy heart that that we say goodbye to Auntie Gertie.   
Such a fun loving lady.  She was such a huge part of my life growing up with her forever smile and loving laugh.  
I spent many nights watching, then later learning how to play cards when the families got together.   The good nature always came to the surface when she would invariably catch Dad misplaying his cards, and the inevitable thunderous roar that ensued from the ladies.
It took me several years to realize that Dad would do this on purpose, not to cheat, but just for the enjoyment of watching what would happen.  
I wish we could be there in person.  Both Marla and I send huge hugs to all.  

Auntie Gertie was an amazing woman. She had such a zest for life.  She fiercely loved her family.  She was passionate, loved to play games, laugh, and was such a good baker! We can at least take solace that she is with her beloved Hugo now. I was lucky to have known her my whole life, and to try and sum her life up in a few words would be impossible.  My only wish is that we could all be together to share stories! Don and I send our love to Doug (&Robinette) and to Donna, and to all the grandkids.

Gertie will be missed.
She loved her family and of course McDuff.  I enjoyed some alone time with her when Doug And Robinette were away.  She enjoyed a good laugh.   We had some good chats about her life her good times and also her regrets.
She was an interesting woman.
