At the age of 82, Gord completed his earthly journey in Comfort and Peace in the company of family. He is survived by Eileen, his loving wife of 42 years, his brother Doug ( Louise ) of Victoria, BC, sisters-in -law, Delores Klingspon and Marilyn Klingspon and brother-in-law Roger Klingspon, all of Kelowna.
Gord will be remembered fondly by cousins, nephews, nieces and many long-standing friends. He loved all the seasonal celebrations and the opportunity to entertain lavishly and share a home he was proud of. Family and friends were very important to him, and he went the extra mile to include them in his life.
In a few words, we salute this “larger than life” man with a huge heart and the desire to help and bring joy to others in whatever way possible. As well as being an accomplished tradesman, Gord loved his occupation as a pilot in the north of Canada. For 20 years he flew a variety of aircraft on wheels, floats and skis doing scheduled service, charter work and medevac services in the Arctic. He also ferried aircraft to the Caribbean and Middle East. He was an equestrian in his 20s and later enjoyed riding motorcycles for 50 years, participating in several 3 Flags Classic rides as well as numerous long-distance rides. He loved to travel with Mexico being a favourite destination. “ BE THE ADVENTURE “ was a phrase that suited Gord perfectly.
Gord’s last year was marked by illness which robbed him of many of the previously enjoyed skills and activities. We are grateful he is now at Peace on his infinite journey of love and light.
Our profound thanks to the Cottonwoods Care facility staff for their compassionate care and consideration. They were exceedingly kind, and words cannot express our gratitude.
We will Love and miss Gord forever!
