After several years of struggling with cancer Henry died peacefully Sept. 15, the feast of our Lady of Sorrows. Henry was born and raised in the St. Gregor/Muenster area of Saskatchewan, the 2nd oldest in a family of eight boys. Henry spent most of his working years as the owner of St. Gertrude General Store in Sask. but through the years he worked in a pulp work camp in Ontario; in a hospital in Port Arthur as an orderly; in Sask. as a farmer for several years before buying the store, and as a school bus driver. His last working years were at the front desk of Al’s Electric and Welding Shop in Muenster, Sask. He retired in 1982 and moved to Kelowna in 1986. Henry was a dedicated church member. He helped with the building of St. Gertrude Church. He served as a church trustee and he served on parish councils in the various parishes he attended; he was a Mass server for many years. He was involved with the Charismatic Prayer group in Humboldt. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Humboldt, Sask. He financially helped sponsor 3 young men in the Don Bosco missions on their way to ordination to the priesthood. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 63 years, Helen; his daughter Doreen (Andre) Beaulieu of Calgary, Alberta, his son Anthony (Anne) of LaRonge, Sask.; his grandchildren: Jon (Pam), Kristen, Aaron, Chandree Lynn, Jayden, and Stephanie; and his great grandchildren Nikki and Jesse. Also his brothers Otto, Walter, Edmund (Rose), Carl, his sister-in-laws Lillian and Marilyn, various nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Bertha Bunz; his brothers Johannes, Raymond (and wife Hazel) and Norbert. Special thanks to John and Bev Flegel and all the friends for the many ways they have given help, friendship, and support; to Dr. Carlyle, the staff of Interior Health who visited and provided assistance; the doctors and staff at Kelowna Hospital; Dr. Golby; the staff at Sun Pointe Senior Residence; and the staff and volunteers at the Hospice House who provided support and care during his last months. Prayers will be recited on Monday, September 20th, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Theresa’s Parish, 750 Rutland Road N., Kelowna. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 21st, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Theresa’s Parish with Celebrant Father Otto Rollheiser O.M.I.. Music by Ruby Lowry and Eulogy read by Bertha Miller. Final resting place will be at the St. Theresa’s Cemetery.
