Hilda Rubina Forzley

1931-2016

With great sadness, at Kelowna General Hospital, Hilda passed away at noon on October 2, 2016. She was predeceased by her husband James in 2010, her infant daughter in 1952, her son Stan in 1996, her parents Anna & Jacob Schellenberg, three sisters and one brother. She is survived by one sister Elsie and many nieces and nephews. During Hilda’s three weeks in the hospital following a car accident she never lost her unique sense of humor or smile. She will be missed and remembered by her friends who loved her, namely Allie of Victoria, Lenore of Manitoba, Myrna, Marilyn and Jean plus many more. When Jim and Hilda retired in Winnipeg they spent five years travelling across Canada and the USA before relocating in Kelowna in 1985 where they spent a lot of time exploring BC. Hilda loved the Okanagan Valley, especially the bounty of fruit and vegetables that she gathered from her garden and the orchards where she could literally pick from the trees. She was a lifetime member of the United Church and spent many hours visiting and reading to shut-ins and hospital patients. She was an ardent reader, good books and authors were a passion of hers. She could talk politics with anyone and always asked “would you like to hear a joke?” A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Kelowna General Hospital or the Memorial Fund of First United Church in memory of Hilda would be appreciated.
