We are deeply heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear Dad. Dad passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Dad was born in St. Albans, England in 1928 and immigrated to Canada in 1956 with his wife Anne Richardson and three of their seven children. Dad was such a loving, wonderful man encouraging his children to be kind, caring, respectful to others, and to appreciate the life we lived in the Okanagan.
Our dear Dad loved being outdoors and enjoyed all activities including, tennis, boating, cabin cruising, camping, Rving, sailing, canoeing, skiing even river rafting.....
In earlier years Dad was active in local musicals, President of Toastmasters, member of the Power Squadrons, Regatta, Lions club, Yacht Club and was an avid horseback rider, having horses of his own for many years.
Our handsome Dad was so clever, witty, knowledgeable, and intelligent. He attended University in England and went on to own a successful horticultural business in his twenties having several employees. He later sold his business and immigrated to Canada to provide a better life for his children.
He was an avid reader. He so admired Winston Churchill, one of the most extraordinary leaders of the twentieth century, and would tell us about the many extraordinary stories.
Dad had an amazing sense of humor and kept us laughing with jokes and hilarious stories all our lives. He was devoted to his seven children as family was the most important thing in his life.
Dad also was a brilliant writer and poet and had many of his stories and poems published in books and magazines. His poems about his children were his favorite theme.
Dad was a very successful business man, we were always so proud of his professional accomplishments as General Manager of Niagara Chemicals, Reichold Manager, and later working for Van Waters & Rogers.
Dad started a campaign to support local farmers with his slogan “I am good for you”.
He appeared on Television and radio with his message to support our farmers and received accolades from Prime Minister Mulroney.
He loved visits from his children, whether sailing, lovely walks, wonderful lakeside restaurants, picnics, markets etc we were always out enjoying the Okanagan.
Dad appreciated the beauty of British Columbia and always encouraged us to participate and enjoy everything around us and not take it for granted.
Our Dad was a very special man whom we will miss greatly. We are very lucky to have had such a wonderful role model in our lives....the father of seven children....Our hero.
