Joseph Alois Rush

Joe was born in Rappoltenkirchen, Austria, September 28, 1950 to Anna Maria and Louis Rush. They moved to Canada when he was 4 years old and lived in Banff and Canmore before moving to the Okanagan when he was 14.

He is survived by his loving wife Donna, daughter Shawna (Mike), stepdaughters Pamela (Geoff), Anna Marie (Robbie) and grandchildren Kira, Carson, Sandra, Naomi, Ryder, Logan and Hunter as well as cousins in Austria, Harald, Helaine, Nikki and Magdelaina. He was predeceased by his first wife Gaye, parents Anna Maria and Louie and sister Heidi.

Joe had a deep faith and love of God and was very active in the Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years and also served on Parish Council as finance chair.

His great sense of humor and joke telling put smiles on many faces, even becoming famous aboard a cruise ship with his comedy act in a talent show.

Joe loved to travel, beginning with many camping trips starting when Shawna was a baby. He loved to cruise and notched a great number of cruises including his favorites, which were two world cruises and the Amazon.

Joe worked at Western Star for the majority of his career. He loved numbers and when retirement wasn't enough his new found hobby was income tax preparation at H & R block, until it interfered with his happy place "Maui" and travelling the World.

Joe loved to walk and before his legs gave him trouble he would often walk for hours with his dogs Shadow and Sunny. He had a variety of hobbies including scuba diving which was his favorite, fishing, flying the planes he built and accidentally crashed, photography, and aquariums of both fresh and salt water fish.

Joe was genuine and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Due to Covid there will be a private family funeral on Wednesday September 15th, however the funeral will be live streamed for anyone wishing to be there in spirit.
