May 6, 1959 to August 17, 2024
Kenneth (Ken) Scott passed away at Kelowna General Hospital on August 17, the same place he was born! Ken spent all his life in the Ellison and Rutland areas.
He is survived by Donna the mother of their sons Tyler Scott and Kyle (Mary) Scott, his mother Dorothy, siblings Linda (Merv) Kovach, Kathleen (Richard) Parr, Philip (Sharon) Scott. Nieces and nephews Katrina (David), Rylan, Melissa (Franco) and David (Kim). He was predeceased by his father Lawrence Scott.
Ken lived all his life in Kelowna, growing up on the family farm in the Ellison area. He attended school in Ellison and Rutland and graduated from Rutland Senior Secondary School. Then he attended Okanagan College taking an auto body course before becoming a floor layer. He worked with his lifelong friend, Wade, in Wade’s family floor laying business.
Ken always had an interest in vehicles and customized a 1970 Ford Econoline Van, which he won some awards for. Although he said it was never finished! He went on many Van Runs around BC and the North Western US.
Ken was an avid Canuck fan, but started as a Montreal Canadiens fan. But any hockey game on TV would do! He cheered on the Rockets, as well as his son's ice and ball hockey games. He especially enjoyed a Rockets game when he could attend with his friend Wade. Ken also enjoyed pool, card games, darts and spending time with his boys! He took particular pleasure in the water and had a pool whenever he could manage it, even if it was just a kiddy pool in the backyard!
Merv introduced Ken to Rendezvous’ in 1987 and that would become his new focus. He attended many Rendezvous around BC for over 30 years before his health limited attendance. He won many awards and made many new friends.
Ken’s last seven years were spent in a lengthy battle with cancer that he did not win!
The Family would like to Thank the staff of the Sindi Ahluwalia Hawkins Cancer Centre, KGH emergency, 4A, 3 West Medical Unit and Cottonwoods Short Stay Unit.
