I was saddened to hear about the passing of Maurice, and I wish to share my condolences with the Verhelst Family.    I first met Maurice in the spring of 2009 when I knocked on his door in Kelowna.  He greeted me with the warmest smile, a wonderful sense of humour, and shared so much knowledge of my “Lesy” roots from Lafleche and Belgium.  I fortunately had opportunity to meet on a few more occasions, and Maurice so patiently and willingly, would answer all my genealogy questions.  I was always amazed by his memory and intelligence.  I will forever cherish the knowledge he shared with me, and I will miss his friendship.  Rest peacefully, Second Cousin, twice removed.

I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Maurice's passing. He was one of my favorite uncles because I always remebered him as having unending optimism and a great love of life. My condolences to his family. I will say a special prayer for him at Midnight Mass.

I was jst sent this notice and wish to send my deepest sypathy to Maurices' family. My memories date back to long ago working on the farm, driving tractors doing field work,haying, hauling grain and in general, lots of maintenance work. I could go on,but for now, the memories shared were always plesant and will stay with me when I remember Maurice. 
  Thank you Maurice, you touched my life.

I am very sorry to hear of Uncle Maurices' passing. Some of my best childhood memories are of spending time on his farm in LaFleche. 
My thoughts go out to all the family.

I am so sorry. My deepest condolences and tightest of hugs sent out to all of you. It is never easy to lose a parent, a grandparent. 
I remember Uncle Maurice with a smile on his face and happiness in his life. I never saw him any other way.  
He took me to see Annie in (I think) 1982. It was one of the few times I had been to a theater back then and I enjoyed myself so much. I'll always have that memory of him, and his smile.
Be together and be strong for each other. Don't be afraid to cry when you need to and laugh whenever you can. You know he'd want that. Love you all!

We didn't have complete information about making donations to St Vincent de Paul at the time Dad's obituary was submitted, but cheques can be made out to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and mailed to St Theresa's Church, 750 Rutland Road N, Kelowna, BC, V1X 3B7.

Maurice was a dear uncle with a big smile and laugh. I will never forget our visits to the farm, complete with a blind pig for a pet. When we visited out in Kelowna we always felt welcome and again were fascinated by the variety of animals. When uncle Maurice came out to visit us he always seemed to have some new camper that was unique to us. And of course he always had his little side kick with him - a little black dog whose name I believe was Sasha? Anyway, I will always treasure those memories. As our family can relate very well, it's tough to lose a parent no matter what the age. May the Lord comfort you all in your loss.
