Michael Dean Dempster

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Dempster on September 14, 2015, in Lake Country, BC at the age of 54. He was born on October 17, 1960 in Noranda, Quebec, and spent most of his adult life in Calgary, until his passionate work in the Hotel Industry brought him to the Okanagan Valley 12 years ago.

Mike was a kind and gentle soul, a strong leader, and a loyal friend. Those who knew him will remember him as a magnificent storyteller, a good-hearted jokester, and a talented singer. When he wasn’t singing up a storm, Mike enjoyed listening to music, trying new recipes, BBQing the best steaks in town for friends and family and lounging on his boat. While he was successful in his work as a Hotel & Resort manager, he always made time to be a loving husband and father whose family was the light of his life.

Michael is survived by his wife, Linda Dempster, and his two daughters, Ashley Dempster and Erika Dempster. He is also survived by his father, Donald Dempster (Shirley), and his two sisters, Donna Robinson (Larry, Kirk & Scott) and Wendy Dempster (Clarke & Michael). He was predeceased by his sister, Connie Dempster, and his mother, Doris Dempster (nee Maxey). He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Oliver.

A memorial service for Michael will be held on Thursday, September 24th at First Memorial Funeral Services at 1211 Sutherland Avenue in Kelowna, BC at 10:00 am.
