She was born in the Altai province of Siberia, USSR in 1930 & began her trans-global travels a year later when her Christian parents Kiril & Alexandra Bacharnikov decided to flee from Joseph Stalin's atheistic persecutions. They fled through Kazakhstan & settled in western China's Xinquang province where they lived freely for 25 years under the rule of Cheng Kai Shek.
While living an agrarian lifestyle in the village of Kulja, my mother & her sister Nastya went to a Slavic pentecostal church where they met other Soviet refugees & Nina met my father Matthew Shigrov whom she wedded in 1948. Then Mao Tse Tung took over China & modelled his rule closely after Stalin's brutal dictatorship, they managed with considerable difficulty to escape to Hong Kong in 1959.
From there they chose to emigrate to Australia with their five children Nick, Lydia, Vladimir, Alex & Vitaly. In 1960 they settled in Melbourne, Victoria where 2 more sons were born making a total of 7 children. After 16 years in Australia three of their oldest children moved to Canada & encouraged the rest of the family to do the same, & in February 1976 the rest of the family moved to Vernon, British Columbia where they lived for 25 years before moving to Kelowna where her husband of 65 years departed to be with the Lord.
Now, 12 years later Nina has also died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 95. She is now with her Lord Jesus Christ whom she loved & served so faithfully during her turbulent life.
You will be greatly missed, dear mother. Goodbye,...till we meet again in Glory!
