It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Olga Erickson at the age of 84 years at Kelowna General Hospital. Olga is survived by her loving husband Ed of 63 years, daughter Sandy (Shawn), son Keith (Shelley), grandchildren Paige and Ethan, brother Walter (Olive), sister Sylvia (Carl) as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Olga was born in Smoky Lake, Alberta. She lived on the family farm with her parents Cassie and Sam, older brother Walter and younger sister Sylvia. Olga attended the Banff School of Fine Arts at the age of 16 and 2 years later completed a secretarial course at McTavish Business College in Edmonton. She worked at Ashdown’s Wholesale where she met Ed whom she married July 18, 1959. She continued to work at the government taxation office until they started their family. Sandra Lee was born in 1966 followed by Keith Marvin in 1969. Olga was a loving mother that worked from home as a highly skilled seamstress and book keeper. The family relocated to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1970, returned to Alberta to Sherwood Park in 1973, their acreage near Ardrossan in 1979 and then to Kelowna, B.C. in 1993.
Olga adored gardening, needlework and creating beautiful paintings. In her later years she took pride in giving back to the community by crocheting countless blankets for charity. She loved going on camping trips, her favorite being Alaska. Another memorable family trip was Hawaii in the 1980’s.
Olga was an amazingly strong woman who survived breast cancer. She always thought of others before herself and loved her family and friends with all her heart. She will live on in our memories forevermore.
