Patricia was born November 4th, 1926 to John and Violet Dixon in New Romney, Kent England. She had a good childhood but faced some challenges when she was sent to an all girls school at 14 during WWII. She was separated from her family for several years. This helped to shape her into the strong, resilient independent woman with a quick wit.
When school finished and she returned to her home, she went to a dance. It is here she was swept of her feet by a handsome Canadian Soldier Frank Laudan. She has always said, “It was love at first dance”. Frank however said, “Don’t think you’re going to be one of those war brides. A year later Patricia bravely travelled to Canada alone to marry Frank, where they had 52 years together.
They lived in Richmond, BC where they had four children until retiring in their beloved Peachland BC in 1979.
Patricia had many passions and loves. She loved her job as a medical assistance/receptionist. She loved to sew and knit often while watching her favorite sports on TV. She enjoyed her French Fries and anything chocolate. But she loved most of all her family and her friends. If you knew her, you know the social butterfly she was.
She was such a fun, kind and loving little English woman, she would always greet you with a Hello Love, while usually wearing something pink and always had her ball cap on (again usually pink) . Miss Pat also had a spicy side to her in her later years. If she felt a need to let you know something, she did!, the staff at Brookhaven sure knew that. Ha Ha.
We will miss you so much Mum, but we are grateful you are no longer in pain and be with Dad and Susan again. We Love you to the moon and back.
We would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Brookhaven and Dr. Verster.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the following charities in her memory, Alzheimer’s and Dementia and also the Cancer and Heart Funds.
The family would also love and appreciate any stories or comment you have about our wonderful Mother.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.firstmemorialfuneralkelowna.com
