July 7, 1927- May 27, 2019
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia Pierce (Cannon) at her home in Kelowna BC at the age of 91. Born in Quesnel BC, she was the youngest child of Frank and Elsie Cannon and the last remaining member of of her family.
She married Lloyd Pierce Sept. 7, 1948 and together they had 5 children. They lived in Quesnel for the early part of their married life but moved to Kelowna BC in 1973. They first lived in Rutland but moved to the Mission area in 1991. Over the years Pat worked as a waitress, book-keeper, and sorter at various fruit packing houses in Kelowna. She was known for her diligence, determination and dependability. She volunteered for 44 years at the Rutland Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop, 4 years as a casual and 40 as a member.
The early years spent in remote areas of BC shaped her life and interests and the legacy she leaves behind; planting, growing, clean air, wholesome food, keeping fit and healthy. She was still bowling at 85 years of age! She lived her philosophy of reusing, recycling, and using natural remedies long before it was fashionable and always stayed true to herself.
She was predeceased by Lloyd in 1995 and son-in-law, Bert. She was dedicated to her family and is survived by children Karen, Loy (Ron), Claude (Sylvie), Kathy and Candie (Richard), 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
No funeral by request but her family will gather later in the summer to enjoy some cheese straws and chokecherry syrup and celebrate the unique, self-reliant, resourceful person she was.
-Rest in Peace Mom-
