Peter Klassen

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Klassen, who left us peacefully at the age of 101. Born on September 27, 1923, in Grunfeld, Russia, Peter emigrated to Canada at the tender age of three, settling in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. There, among six brothers and one sister, he learned the value of hard work and family, sharing in both farming and household duties.

Peter married Lena Harms, and together they embarked on a journey of farming. The challenges of agricultural life led them to spend winters working at a logging camp in Arith, Alberta. In 1969, captivated by the beauty of the Okanagan Valley, he made a bold decision to sell everything and start anew, building homes in the Kelowna area.

In retirement, Peter and Lena traveled extensively, sharing stories of their adventures, each trip enriching their lives in unique ways. Their vibrant social life at Sun Village brought joy and connection, and Peter embraced his passions for golf, boating, and driving well into his late years.

Peter was a loving man with strong character, a true manifestation of unconditional love. His joy for life, boundless curiosity and quick wit made every moment with him special. He accepted everyone as they were, taking each person into his heart, and he served as an inspiration to all who knew him. His resilience and humor shone through even the toughest times.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Lena and two daughters, Deborahe Arlene and Jane (Bob) Henry. He is survived by his siblings, Dave and Sis, his children Lynn (Mac) Frey, Russell (Betty), and Steve (Nancy), along with eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and one very special great-great-granddaughter.

A service in Peter's memory will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Operation Smile.

Peter Klassen will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He lived life to the fullest, always ready with a story or a new idea. His legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will forever remain in our hearts.
