Ritva Maarit Tuomi

Ritva Maarit (Pekki) Tuomi was born on February 27, 1963 in Haapamaki, Finland. She spent her childhood and early adulthood in Finland, growing up on the family farm, skiing and skating in winter. She later visited her sister Aila in Canada, and there, met the love of her life, her beloved late husband, Mark. They lived and built a beautiful live together for over 40 years. Ritva is survived by her daughter Emily, son in law Mike, son Michael, and her three grandchildren, Johann, Tomas, and Noah. Ritva’s warm and loving character will be missed greatly by everyone she knew. With her beloved extended family in Finland, Vancouver, Calgary, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and dear friends and colleagues across the country, Ritva’s enduring spirit will live on in our hearts.

Ritva’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thankfulness to the staff at Hospice, staff and residents at the Valleywood Retirement Home in Kelowna, as well as Dr. Johannes Vorster, Pastor Joshua Dool, and dear friend Sandra Zwiep for all their love and support.

Donations can be made to the Central Okanagan Hospice House, in lieu of flowers.

Cremation will take place this week, followed by a Celebration of Life.
