Ron was born on September 4, 1943, in Winnipeg, MB to John & Jean From. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Wayne. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores, children Jan (Gerald) Dirksen, Loren (Carrie), Wes (Laurie); grandchildren Michael (Erica), Danielle (Nick) Birtwistle, Amy (Christophe) Pilloud, Haley (Bryan) Liu, Dustin (Danica), Shane (Hailey), and Austin (Alisha); great-grandchildren Taylor (Noah) Vandeburgt, Myah, Cohen, Caeden, Josanna, Noelle, Ginette, Nora, and Carson; sisters Miriam (Dale) Kemp, Marlene Denchuk, Violet Turchinski and brother Raymond (Sondra) and numerous nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces, and others who called him grandpa Ron, by affection.
Ron grew up in Winnipeg, moved to North Delta in 1971 and Kelowna in 1986. As a late teen he worked for his dad in landscaping and spent the remainder of his work life as a salesman and entrepreneur. He successfully owned and operated Rondale Coffee Services in North Delta, followed by Alpine Wilderness Retreat outside Kamloops and then Water Canada in Kelowna, finally retiring in 2007.
Ron’s favourite past-times were telling jokes and storytelling. In fact, Ron liked to say he never let the truth get in the way of a good story. He also enjoyed playing games, hunting and fishing. Ron was never accused of having grown up too quickly.
He will be missed by many. His remains were cremated and will be interred at Lakeview Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held in Kelowna at First Memorial on Sutherland Avenue on Saturday December 7, 2024 at 2 p.m. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be available via Livestream at the following link: https://event.forgetmenotceremonies.com/ceremony?c=ec039004-f16a-4f8a-a2e7-0f4e65138f6d
