Tara was born and raised in Kelowna to loving parents, Walt and Eileen Dionne. She is survived by her parents and her brother Russ, as well as many close extended family members and friends; also her fur baby Emi will miss her dearly.
She perused a career in education after spending a year teaching English in South Korea. Tara was a dedicated, caring, inspirational teacher to many students over her 18-year-long career at South Rutland Elementary with School District #23. Often Tara would be shopping and hear “Is that you Miss. D?” Tara would always take the time to engage with her former students with questions of “how are you doing?”, “What are you doing now?”
As a teacher, Tara always wanted her students to learn the importance of all cultures and what could be valued from their beliefs. She taught with integrity, compassion and creativity. She mastered how to foster a relationship with her students while delivering knowledge to build their young minds.
Tara’s love of nature was evident in every aspect of her life. While teaching was a big part of her life, it will be the way she touched so many lives with empathy that we all will remember her for. Tara was always there with positive words for everyone she met.
Donations in her memory may be made to BC Cancer Agency, Canadian Wildlife Federation, BC SPCA or charity of your choice.
