Wayne was a hard-working man, employers were always pleased to have him as part of their team. Wayne had a strong work ethic, he was loyal and dedicated to his employers and his work was always outstanding. At one point in his life he managed a restaurant single handedly, he did the cooking, hired the staff, did the scheduling of the staff, cleaned, ordered the stock and kept the books too. When he retired from that restaurant the staff who loved him bought him a lovely gift, they said that he was the best boss they ever had, they were sad to see him go. Wayne left his mark wherever he went.
When he bought his first home he did all the landscaping himself, he also built a fence, a shed, a patio and flower boxes all by himself with no previous training. He was a completely self-taught man. Anything he put his hand too he did well.
Wayne was a very determined individual if he made up his mind to do something there was no stopping him. Wayne had great fortitude, stamina and tenacity, these qualities served him well throughout his life.
Wayne had a quirky sense of humor and he made people laugh with some of his antics. In his younger years he loved to rollerblade and work out at the gym. He also had a very gentle, soft, caring and generous heart, he would take people into his home that were suffering, get them the help they needed and set them on the right track. Many people credited Wayne for saving their lives.
Wayne was a force to be reckoned with he lived his life on his own terms and was never ashamed to do so. Life was difficult for Wayne at times and he definitely had his challenges and his struggles. Nevertheless Wayne was a great example to others of perseverance, forgiveness and letting go.
So it is with a heavy heart we say goodbye, we will desperately miss him and love him always.
Wayne is survived by his daughter Melody Wright (Kris), his granddaughter Kaleigh, his step-son Dax Shortt (Jerri-Ann), his brothers Rene Scherger (Sandy), Dennis Scherger (Colleen) and his sister MaryAnn (Jim), many nieces and nephews, his ex wife Shiree Sherriden and his many friends.
