William "Bill" Kruiper

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Kruiper in Kelowna on May 13, 2025, one day after his 96th Birthday. Bill was born in Luttenberg, Netherlands in 1929. At the age of 24, Dad made the courageous decision to leave his mother and 9 brothers to immigrate to Canada from the Netherlands for a better life. After 2 years in Saskatchewan, he made his way to British Columbia and settled in Kelowna. He soon met the love of his life and married our mother, Johanna Polman, herself a Dutch immigrant. Dad worked at the Thomson Farms in the Lower Mission for a number of years and was then employed at the Tolko Plywood Plant in Kelowna until he retired. Our family of 8 proudly settled in Rutland.

Dad was predeceased by our Mom in 2011. He is survived by his 6 children, Mary Ann, Will (Teresa), Jim (Laurie), Donna (Phil Bruch), Len (Dana), and Liz. Dad is also survived by 17 Grandchildren, 7 Great grandchildren, two brothers Anton and Marinus, and a large extended family in the Netherlands.

Dad enjoyed curling, gardening, singing, playing Uno, and being with family. Dad was a strong, hardworking man and proud of his Catholic faith. He was a man of integrity and treated everyone with kindness. Dad was a man of few words, but was loveable, fun and was always available to help anyone when needed. Dad accepted and befriended everyone he met and was an amazing role model for his entire family. His mischievous nature, infectious smile and playful demeanor will be missed greatly.

The Kruiper family want to acknowledge the wonderful staff of David Lloyd Jones Home for the loving care he received the last months of his life. We noticed, and we are forever grateful.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Bill Kruiper on Saturday May 24, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 750 Rutland Road North, in Kelowna. All who knew and loved Bill are welcome to gather in remembrance.
