Thanks Dad...
For taking me along on the back of your motorcycle when I was a young 'un.
For Saturday morning cartoons and Yogi Bear.
For the times in the dune buggy when you'd floor it, then slam on the brakes so we'd do donuts in the middle of Olympia Street.  And for all the countless other dune buggy rides.
For early morning fishing and boat rides accross the lake.
For all the cross-country camping trips in the motor home.
For the cool-as-heck '76 Firebird with t-tops you repainted and reupholstered and gave me for my first car.
For letting me keep that car when, within the first year you had to replace the engine because I blew the first one by forgetting to check the oil.
For all the financial support.
For my love of car racing, hiking trails and DIY projects.
For all the estate sales and goodies there from.
For all the joking, pranking and laughter over the years.
For being there for Mom through all the loss and health issues she's endured these past few years.

Even though we could never figure out how to stop butting heads with each other, I always loved you and I know you always loved me.  I'm really going to miss you Dad.

Ernie was a great friend and "Buying Buddy".  We used to go to all the storage stall sales and he taught me the ropes on buying.   We laughed and had loads of fun together.  It's such a small world, as I was reading his Obituary, I see he was related to a friend of mine from years back while a youngster riding horses.  Melody Renfro was a very good friend too.  Carolyn retired and we would all have fun going to sales and holding sales.  I pray God is with Carolyn during this time of grief.  If I miss him and his laughter and great personality, I know she will miss him terribly, but will have the peace of mind that he is in a beautiful place and trying to swap with everyone he see's.  God Speed Ernie Garner.

Ernie Garner was definitely his own man……….he had to be one of the best in HIS business, which was antiquing and junking.  He could tell a story like no one else and you never knew what percent was true but you always wanted to hear his next tale.  The story was never as much fun as laughing along with him as he told it.  And oh that laugh…….it was one of the world’s best.  

Ernie took fashion cues from no one.  He created his own style with T-shirts and a myriad of baseball caps.  There’s no telling how many he had or how he came to be wearing them. He easily critiqued my weight fluctuation over our 40+ years as neighbors and he got it back from me……..indeed my favorite “noassatall” friend.  It was a relationship of loving, teasing and goading EVERYTIME we saw each other.  What other name could have been more perfect for him than Turkey!  

Maintaining a steady motivation to haggle and trade and find those deals ya never knew what would show up in the drive way or garage.  Trucks, objects of desire and non-desire and he knew just where to take them and up his revenue stream.   When stepping out of the automotive phase Ernie stepped into the find it and sale it trade, starting with storage sheds.  Some of his best stories came from those sheds and what treasures were discovered.  He even found a place to sell USED strippers clothing and made a profit doing so.  Every challenge was met with determination.  Carolyn and Ernie worked together so well and they worked their tails off doing so.  

This is just my perspective of a relatable and loveable friend.  Ernie loved his family and enjoyed life.  He did it his way.  Our family has benefitted by knowing Ernie TURKEY Garner!  God’s got a livewire with him and he will always be in my heart.  Love ya Turkey!

God bless you & keep you during this time.  Since Ernie was a believer in Jesus you will be together again in Heaven.  What a Joyful time that will be.
