Robert Charles Shields

Of Buffalo, New York entered into rest on March 20, 2026 at the age of 81. Loving companion of 22 years to Maureen Buckley. Cherished son of the late Robert and Eileen Shields. Dear brother of the late Ruth Shields and Anne (Samuel) Curto, Julia (Cliff) Curto and family, Emily (Bryan) Weatherford and family. Loving uncle of Lisa (Sam) DiVita, Nicole (Greg) Sanderson, Paige and Kendall Sanderson, Julie (Kevin) Wall and Nick and Taylor Wall. Beloved cousin of Patrick McGroder III who was like a brother to him, and his children, Caroline, Patrick IV and Lizzy McGroder who held a special place in his heart, Susie McGroder. Kate Butler and family, Carol MacLeod and family. Also survived by several other nieces and nephews. Special "Dad" and "Grandad" to Georgia (Brandon), Harrison and Oliver Marzullo, Robert (Rose) Buckley and Matthew (Marion) Buckley. RC is survived by his cherished “Executive Committee”, Jim Warren, Tom Dunn, and David Collard and a wide circle of devoted family and treasured friends. RC graduated from St. Joseph Collegiate Institute; Class of 1962. He went on to get his bachelor’s degree from the University of Buffalo. After college he was a teacher at East High School and West Hertel Middle School for eight years. He then became a sales representative in the houseware industry. He was involved for many years in the running of The Roundtable restaurant. Until his passing, he worked for Life Insurance Associates with dear friend, Nancy Quinlivan. His love of golf led him to a 50 year membership with the Wanakah Country Club, where he served on the board and was a very active member. He always supported local charities and was on the Board of the Delaware YMCA for many years. Family and friends may call on Saturday May 9, 2026 from 11am-2pm at DENGLER, ROBERTS PERNA FUNERAL HOME, 3070 Delaware Ave. Kenmore, NY 14217, where a Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2pm.
