

Alexander “Alex” Patrick Currier of Acworth, Georgia passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the age of 65. He was born on September 23, 1960, in Santa Cruz, California. His family moved frequently around the nation, but he most often recalled the time he spent in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
After graduating high school, Alex worked alongside his father at a tannery until enlisting in the United States Coast Guard on October 1, 1979. He would ultimately contribute 23 years of service to the Coast Guard, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in October of 2002.
Alex’s Coast Guard career was one of honor and dedication. He spoke fondly of time served on the USCGC Ingham, the USCGC Point Arena, the YARD Tug EDENSHAW, and the USCGC Legare. He additionally served at the Marine Safety Office (MSO) in Baltimore, Supply Center Curtis Bay, and the Coast Guard Yard. Alex graduated from the Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Academy in 2001, an achievement he was very proud of.
After retiring from the United States Coast Guard, Alex began a second civilian career as a Refrigeration Technician at the Kroger Company in 2002. During his 22 years with Kroger, Alex worked within the engineering division and ultimately retired as a Quality Control Inspector in 2025.
In his personal time, Alex held many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed studying Civil War history and visiting historic battlefield sites, especially that of Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He held a deep appreciation for classic cars and motorcycles, working alongside his son, Caleb, to restore his 1970 Chevy C-10 Pickup Truck “Goldie” and going for rides on his 2013 Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide “Dreamweaver”.
Alex is survived by his wife of 27 years, Andrea Paul Currier; his three children, Isaiah, Caleb, and Alexandria; his sister, Marilyn; his nephew, Shawn; and his numerous other nieces and nephews. He is loved endlessly and will be infinitely missed by his family, friends, and community.
