November 4, 1968 – November 27, 2025
Alfred “Trey” Harris Hardy, III lived a life full of adventure, laughter, and unwavering love. Born on November 4, 1968, in Birmingham, Alabama, to Alfred and Molly Sue Hardy, Trey’s early years were spent exploring the beauty of the South and visiting his grandparents’ farm—a place that sparked his lifelong love of animals.
When his family moved to Kennesaw, Georgia, Trey thrived in the Cobb County school system and proudly played football for the North Cobb Warriors. He later graduated from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor of Science degree, setting the stage for a life defined by hard work and service.
Trey began his career at The Home Depot, where his dedication and leadership led him from Johnson Ferry to Augusta and eventually North Charleston. But his true calling came when he volunteered with the local police department. In 2003, Trey joined the Summerville Police Department, where he discovered his passion as a K-9 handler. For nine years, he and his canine partners served with courage and loyalty.
In 2012, Trey answered a new call—one that took him overseas. As a contractor in Iraq, he worked as a K-9 handler guarding the U.S. Embassy. His dogs were trained in explosives detection, and together they faced challenges and adventures that Trey often said were “book-worthy.” A master storyteller with a passport full of stamps, Trey embraced life with fearless curiosity and humor.
After seven years abroad, Trey returned home to Kennesaw, coming full circle to the place he loved most. In 2021, he joined MSA Security/Allied Universal as a K-9 handler, working alongside his beloved partner, Aspen. Whether securing State Farm Arena or sharing stories with friends, Trey found joy in his work and the people he met along the way.
Trey was more than his career—he was a devoted father to JoAnna, a loving brother to Leigh and Brad, a proud uncle to Kaitlyn, and a wonderful husband to his former wife, Barbra. He loved deeply and fiercely, often reminding those closest to him that he was their protector—their “sheepdog.” His laughter, his big heart, and his adventurous spirit will be missed beyond measure.
Trey leaves behind a legacy of service, loyalty, and love. He lived boldly, loved greatly, and made every moment count. To know Trey was to know a man who never met a stranger, who could turn any story into an epic, and who believed in protecting those he cared for. He will forever remain in our hearts.
