Dear Mixon family, I had the pleasure of working with Greg when he was at Brighton in Alabama.  I have just learned of his passing this week.  Heartbreaking news.  Greg was an excellent teacher and a great colleague and friend.  I'm so sorry for your loss.

Mr. Mixon was a wonderful teacher.  I was in his History class almost ten years ago, and he truly made sure each student in the class felt welcome and involved.  My condolences to the entire Mixon family - he will be missed!

Al and Kay, you have been in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers since we heard that Greg had died.  We are just heartbroken for you and your whole family.

My heartfelt condolences and prayers go out for you all. I worked with Greg in the Social Studies department at  KMHS when it first opened before I moved in 2006.  We had a close knit department like a family when he arrived a few years later.  He fit right in so quickly.  He was always smiling and joking and I very much enjoyed having him as a colleague.  I remember we had some lively political debates within our department but it was always Greg that would bring it back around to something light hearted and funny.  I know that he was an extremely hard worker and very dedicated to his teaching and the yearbook department.  He put in so many hours and his work ethic was to be greatly admired. He also would be one of the first to reach out and try to cheer someone up if there was ever someone around feeling down or sad. Dear Mixon Family,
I was a student of Greg's only two years ago. He was kind and loving and never let me go unnoticed, even though I was a quiet one. I'll never forget the day I came in crying and he pulled me out into the hall, and talked to me. Not just concerned teacher talked to me, but human to human talked to me. I will absolutely never forget it. I will always take the time to do for others what he did for me, not just for them now, but for Greg as well.

My deepest sympathy to your family.  Both of my son's had the privilege of having him as an AP teacher.  They marveled at his history knowledge and passion for teaching...One of my sons traveled with the class on South Pacific trip last year.  What a sad loss for a special teacher and friend to all.

To Mr. Mixon's family,
I had the wonderful opportunity of being taught AP World History by him. He was very nice, funny, and I could tell he had a great passion for his subject and sharing it with the rest of us. I'm very thankful that I was able to learn so much from him and I know for certain that he touched hundreds of lives at our school, mine included. He is with God now, and I pray that the Lord may give you peace, strength, and guidance for the future.

Although I never met Greg, the service Wednesday night gave me an insight to this wonderful human being and the impact he had on so many. My partner, Del and I left realizing that a man of amazing compassion, wit and caring had just departed this world leaving all he touched a little better for just knowing him. Dear Mixon Family,
  I am one of the students whom of which had to opportunity to be taught by such a great man. I only had the honor to be taught by him for 18 weeks, but he remained a trustworthy friend after. He taught me virtues of generosity and humanity, and I would be less of the person I am today without Greg's time in my life. The love he has spread on Earth is now being rejoiced in the Kingdom of God.

All these years later I can still see ‘just as plain as day' his fun loving smile and even hear his infectious laughter! Though it now seems another life ago, for a while I was even  faculty adviser for TKE. I offer my deepest sympathy to Greg's family who are certainly in my thoughts and prayers.

Our deepest sympathy to the family of Greg Mixon.  He was a wonderful teacher, mentor and friend to many.  His ability to connect with the kids was a special gift.  May you find some comfort in knowing that there will always be a part of him living in the many lives that he has touched.  We know that because our son was one of those lucky enough to have been mentored by him.  Mr. Mixon made a huge impact in our son's life and even though our son has been out of high school for almost 5 years now, that  impact has not faded.
