Barbara Aileen McDowell

Barbara “Aileen” McDowell, age 86, of Marietta, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Aileen was born March 31, 1935 to the late Charles and Willie Vera Young in Cleveland, Tennessee. Aileen was a woman devoted to God and her church. She was a member of Kennesaw United Methodist Church for many years and served in UMW at a local and district level. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and participating in community outreach through her love of playing the piano at Gaines Park Assisted Living. Aileen was also a charter member at Due West United Methodist at its inception in 1973 where she played the piano and was actively involved in multiple areas of the church. She loved her six grandchildren more than anything, and enjoyed their individual talents. Aileen will be missed by all that had the pleasure to know her.

Aileen is survived by her daughters Deborah Palmer (David), Lauren Balas (Tommy); and her son Stephen McDowell (Denise) of Orlando, Florida; her grandchildren Drake Palmer, Chase Palmer, Sophie Balas, Emma Balas, Gracie Balas and Brittany McDowell.

Aileen was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth McDowell and her brothers Harold Young; Paul Young and John "Chunky" Young.

A memorial service for Aileen will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Kennesaw United Methodist Church, 1801 Ben King Rd, Kennesaw, Georgia 30144.
