Carmen was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico and it wasn’t until 2017, she moved to the United States of America and resided with her family. Throughout her life, Carmen led a career as a nurse and retired after twenty-three years of practice. On April 4, 1947 she married Martin Garcia and they spent forty-nine years and six months together before his passing.
Carmen enjoyed music and celebrations. To her, family was important and always came first. Carmen enjoyed cooking for festivities with Halloween, Christmas and Easter being her favorite. She liked to crochet, dance and was a fanatic for soap operas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Garcia and her parents Jose Ramon Cruz and Juana Bautista Diaz. She is survived by her sons, Martin Garcia Jr. and Willy (Evelyn) Garcia; daughters, Carmen (Joe) Garcia, Norma Iris Garcia and Maria (Euseblo) Lopez; brother, Jose (Carmen) Cruz; sisters, Ana Cruz and Nilda Cruz; and grandchildren, Martha Ivonne Garcia, Manuel Alejandro Garcia, Tomas E. Garcia, William Garcia, Tannya Garcia, Karen Garcia, Defkarle Garcia, Olgimar Garcia, Giselle Garcia, Adalberto Cruz, Emilly Marie Lopez, Euquebi Lopez, Angel Comacho, and Luis Comacho.
A funeral service to honor Mrs. Diaz will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 7pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. The family will receive friends or viitation from 4-7pm at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carmen’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
