It took me a while to write this because i just couldn’t bring myself to do it….but Charles really did make a major impact in my life and the lives of many others who knew him at UNG . He was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met . When he left.. nothing has been quite the same…it feels like time completely stopped without him…..All he wanted to do was make people happy. That’s the kind of person he was . The most selfless person I’ve ever come to know. Being his friend was a privilege and I’m grateful to have known such a kind and amazing person .  I’ve come to terms with the fact that we won’t see him again, which was beyond difficult...so I just want to honor his memory as much as I can.

Such a fine young man and his smile was always so bright . We will miss you and always remember you in our hearts. I must say that Charles was a kind and respectful young man who made us proud. I love the fact that no matter how busy he was he still took the time to greet his elders and show love . That was one of the many great qualities that he had that I will hold dear in my heart and cherish. May you rest in eternal peace. Your memory will last forever in our hearts. We are thankful to have known you and just how special you were to so many is an understatement. You exemplify greatness and were an amazing inspiration to the young people in our community! I am so grateful to have watched you grow up and my heart is full of admiration . You touch the lives of young and old and spread joy to so many by just being you!

The news of your death came to me this morning. I can't believe you're gone.  May you rest in peace Charles; a beautiful person with a beautiful soul. You were one of my best friends, my "twin". I remember our phone calls, video calls, and our conversations. I always looked forward to being able to talk to you.

I'll never forget you and the memories we made. This isn't a good bye, but a see you later. I love you Charles, fly high. ❤️

I wanted to send out my deepest condolences to everyone who knew Charles. Charles was a bright, Ray of sunshine who's smile lit up the whole room. Charles will be deeply missed by all.

Charles had the biggest heart. He was the guy who took care of everyone around him. Selfless doesn’t even begin to describe it he always put others first, and he didn’t know the meaning of the word “stranger.” Whether you met him five minutes ago or five years ago, Charles treated you like family.
I’ll never forget the first time we met. I was standing outside class, chatting with a friend, when Charles overheard us. He walked over, asked where I was from, and when I said Nigeria, he yelled, “My sister!” like we’d known each other forever. That’s who Charles was.
One of my favorite memories of Charles was when he found out I had lupus. He called me one night to check in and casually asked if I’d eaten. When I said no, I thought that was the end of the conversation. But no, there was a knock on my door at 11 p.m. There he was, standing with my favorite Nigerian meal. The man didn’t just make sure you were fed, he made sure you were well fed, every time we hung out, he’d always check if I’d eaten,
Charles could do everything. He was the kind of guy who could fix anything—whether it was a broken appliance or a broken heart. He was the ultimate handyman, and somehow, always knew exactly what to say to make you feel better, no matter the situation.
He was also the life of the party. Charles brought people together like no one else. Whether it was through family dinner where he made lots of food for us like his famous corn bread or his game nights, he built a community. And let me tell you about those game nights—we only ever played Uno, because that’s literally the only game Charles had. But we didn’t need more than that.  
I’m really going to miss our long, deep conversations. We talked about everything—from food, to music, to girl problems. He was that friend who you could share anything with, and he always had some sort of advice, even if it didn’t always make sense at first. Those talks are something I’ll always cherish.

Charles was one of the kindest people that I have ever met. He never failed to smile and laugh. I got the pleasure of being friends with him for close to a year, and in that year, he made me feel seen, loved and cherished. He showed me what it truly means to love everyone unconditionally. Charles never judged, he always showed kindness. He absolutely adored cooking; he was constantly inviting me over for dinner. In some of my hardest and loneliest times, Charles consistently invited me to the gym, or to the store, anything to get out of the house. When I was struggling, he always checked up on me, and always listened to my rants. He made sure to make time for everyone, meanwhile working with school and clubs, and he truly inspired me. He never wasted a second, and always worked for what he wanted. He was a bright light in this dark world, and there is a void where he once resided. I remember the first time I met him; he walked straight up to me in the university gym and asked for my Instagram. From there, we became gym partners, and he held me most accountable. He refused to accept any excuses I made for not going. He would push me in the gym, teaching me pretty much everything I know. I achieved things I didn’t think were possible physically because Charles showed me what dedication means. Without him, I would have never truly built a love for the gym, and I would’ve lost myself. In a round-about way he saved my life. Every day that I saw him, he was happy, smiling and joyful. He woke up with joy and was a breath of fresh air. In the entire time I knew Charles, he never said anything negative about anyone. He always looked for the good in everything. He was goofy, always finding humor and looking to make someone laugh. He pushed me to be a better person, and the world will truly lack of such an amazing person.

Charles never failed to greet me with a great smile and a joyful tone in his voice. He always had a smile on his face. I kind of envy the people he worked with. Because Charles was always happy, and always strove to make every person whether he knew him or not share in his happiness. I remember last Halloween I was doing tabling for CCM down at Hoag. Up wattled a blow up shark costume and who else but Charles was in it. He was laughing and joking and giving everyone high fives. I remember thinking to myself I wish I had that kind of joy. He loved making people happy, without caring so much about what the world thought. If it meant wearing a massive blow up costume he did it. Charles had a zest for life. He truly saw every person as a gift, a gift that he was going to make a little happier.

Charles was certainly a leader. A leader with a smile on his face and always ready to do fun things, if he had time. His confidence was truly inspiring for all of us. I was talking to Father Mattew the other day, and he was so impressed with how Charles held himself and would always say hello to him after Mass. Charles was also a gentleman. I remember him coming to my house one time and offering his seat to one of my other friends. He then sat on a china cabinet for well over an hour because he refused to let anyone get him a seat. Charles was also very kind. He always made sure that everyone around him was having a good time and was comfortable and was seen. I remember going over to a campfire at his place. He had a group of friends I hadn't met, but his confidence and hospitality made me feel right at home. Charles was also a very hard worker. His achievement in the military shows that. On top of all the military stuff he was doing, he worked at Walmart, as well as taking classes at UNG. I used to look forward to going to Walmart. Charles claimed that he had a certain spidey sense about him and that I could never sneak up on him. Well I tried every time I went to the store. In the height of this game he actually snuck up on me. I guess I believe him because well, I was never able to scare him.
I only heard good things from his coworkers. They said Charles was a Responsible young man and that he picked up his job really fast and was great at it. I enjoyed going to Walmart when he was there. I'll miss seeing him in the fresh produce section.

TRIBUTE TO MY BELOVED SON.

Chigozie, my son, it is a great shock that you left us. When this news came to us, I thought it was a dream until I saw your poster. Oh, death, what did I do to you that you took chigozie away from us?. Well, God knows the best. I will always remember all the good things that you did for me. 
     May your gentle soul rest in the bossom of Christ. Amen. Go in peace and stay with God. Mummy, as you always call me, I will miss you so much.

TRIBUTE TO MY  BELOVED BROTHER
    
Brother, the news of your death hit me so hard on that faithful day that I couldn't think straight for some moment. Until now, I still find it difficult to believe that you are gone. Oh, death, why have you decided to strike out a time like this. How can I start, where do I begin to write each time I bring myself to write this tribute, I get so teary, you have been a good brother, so kind-hearted. You always look out for me as your own sister,  If I have the powers, brother, you would still be alive, but I can't question God. 
     No words can describe the feeling when I realize that you are no more. It's a feeling like no other. I hope you are in a better place looking down on us. Is so hard to say goodbye. But we are rest assured that with the life you lived, your place is in the bossom of Christ. We will deeply miss you. I will always remember the love and care you showed me. We love you, but God loves you most.
   Brother continues to rest peacefully in the bossom of Christ. Amen

Today, we come together to celebrate the life of my beloved brother Chigozie. Though he was taken from us too soon, his spirit will forever live on in the memories we cherish and the love we shared.

Having him was an adventure filled with laughter, playful and unconditional love. He's one person that wants to live his life and make people around him happy. I so much cherish the little times we spent together and your kind gesture will forever live. 

Many of you may remember his passion for making us loved, laugh and happy. His caring attitude in the house is second to none. I missed him so much.

My first time tubing was of course with you, You shared your love of nature with me and now I can’t get enough!! Whenever we would hang out, I really enjoyed your presence. You were beautiful inside and out. And I’m happy to have experienced such an amazing person as you.❤️

The first time we met each other became friends immediately. We didn’t even realise we would end up going to the same high school, we were meant to be brothers since the first day God brought us together.

Dear brother, your untimely death is a big blow to.us all. I'm yet to come to terms with the brutal fact that you're dead; that you're no more. You have thrown hundreds of us into untold agony, tears, pains and gloom. You have created a vacuum that will take our family years to fill. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Charles was more than a friend to me, he was my brother. We shared so many memories, and he had this way of making everything better just by being there. His kindness, laughter, and unwavering support have left a mark on my life that words cannot fully capture.  Life feels emptier without him around, and I know you must feel it even more.

Hopefully you’re chilling in Heaven. I will always miss you and the times you would be having a great time when we would party! You lived your life the best way that you could and you inspired me to continue to live to the fullest everyday the best we all could, especially that we are young and to remember the smaller things to give us happiness!

I miss Charles, the funniest, happiest, sweetest and most genuine person I have met. He brought light into every gathering, he always made sure everyone was ok, the last conversation we ever had made me realize how much of a good person he was. The friend group misses you a lot bestie, keep resting ♥️♥️ Thank you for being you, thank you for the love and care you showed everyone.

Sweet Charles was in my Spanish class spring semester of 2024. He was always making jokes or if not that, he was making someone laugh. He NEVER met a stranger, he always talked to anyone and everyone. Always so kind and friendly. When I heard of the news from UNG, I was devastated. My prayers and condolences are with Charles family! Forever our UNG angel! 🤍🕊️

Since high school, I’ve always ever called (Charles). Duru since we met in JROTC that day I tried to get all his bracelets off of him and we stayed friends since. I now reminisce about all the phone conversations we had. And the times I went out with him to do some kinda exercise and always ended up walking. I think about the times we sat and shared our “ surviving, bad relationships” moments. One day I called him with “I need to take care of something” he didn’t hesitate to come over and help. That was the kind of person he was. When I had my son he always found things for us all to do. Duru has always been a bright spirit. Any and everywhere he was always smiling and or laughing.

 We were not really close but your sister said a lot about you, the way you look after her and protect her when ever you come around. Your sister really adores you and so proud of you.
But now who will protect her?
Who will share her space?
Who will she tell her gist about guys?

Charles allowed me to wear his army vest. I pretended like I was in the field, and tapped it twice to honor him and show my respect. Never did i know, that was my last time i'd be wearing that vest.

Charles saw me tying my shoes in one corner while being isolated. He then walked up to me and immediately brightened up my world. He said "Give me your phone" with the biggest smile on his face and I knew he was up to no good. Suddenly, he began taking hundreds of photos on my phone. I had no choice but to crack a smile. He always made sure nobody felt alone. Forever love you, Charles.

Bryant was jokingly mocking charles as he was full of plenty of humor. Charles was laughing so hard at this picture. I wish he could see it just one more time.

Duru was someone you could count on to make you laugh and not judge your crazy. He was laid back and taught us all not to take life so seriously and just have some fun!

Whether we were freezing in the field or rucking 12 miles at 4:00am Duru was always a positive light who made all of us laugh and smile. We miss you Battle!

Charles was always a bundle of joy . When you needed someone to talk to he was there . All he brought was good times together and laughs . He was not only a friend but like a brother as well. I am happy for the time I got to spend with him and the memories we made❤️🕊️.

May the Lord grant Duru family the strength to endure this loss and may his soul rest in peace amen.

Charles was the most amazing battle buddy you could think of. He never had a bad day, and always cared about everyone around him. He always held an enormous smile on his face, and didn’t let anyone take it from him. He was an amazing person, and he was so loved. ❤️
