

Donald Ray Richards Sr., of Kennesaw, GA born August 7, 1947 in Callahan, FL passed away Sunday May 17, 2026 at the age of 78. He was preceded in death by his parents Verle Dudley Nutt and Ann Munnell who instilled in him integrity, strong moral character and a servants heart. He was also preceded in death by his step-father Dale Munnell, step-daughter Lisa and granddaughter Whitney. He leaves behind his wife Jan Richards, children (Donnie and Mandy Richards, Lynda and Scott Vaeth, Wendy and Cameron Miller), grandchildren (Cole and Ashley Richards, Zack and Alyssa Richards, McKenzie and Caleb Tallant, Courtney and Hunter Brannan, Kyler, Charli and Jessie) and great-grandchildren (Noah, Kelsie, Landyn, Brooks, Shepherd, Whitley, Amelia, Magnolia, Casen, Ayla and Josie).
Don graduated from Callahan High School in 1965. He was the drummer for The Teddy Bears playing in venues, cutting records and forming lifelong friendships. He was also part of the Air Force Reserves 1967-1972.
His career in telecommunications began at South Central Bell in Florida. When his family moved to Georgia, he transferred to Southern Bell, retiring from Avaya (formally AT&T and Lucent). He then worked for Nokia for a time to keep himself busy.
Don’s work ethic was unmatched, and his heart to serve and help others drove him until the day he passed. He was a master craftsman building homes and anything else he set his mind to. He was always helping his family and friends whenever needed with his extensive skill set. He earned his personal pilot license, rebuilt computers, dabbled in movie making competitions and lived life like no other, fully and completely challenging himself and those around him. His selflessness, talents, intellect and passion knew no bounds. He was the best of us, present in all of our lives, loving us all so well!
A viewing will be held Wednesday, May 27th from 12pm to 1pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home (2950 Cobb PKWY NW, Kennesaw, GA 30152.) No service to follow. Friday, May 29th at 11am a graveside service will be held at Jones Cemetery in Callahan, Florida (45209 Jones Cemetery Rd, Callahan, Florida 32011).
