He was a member of Mars Hill Presbyterian Church, a former Scout Master of Troop 700 and was retired with 30 years of service with the University of Georgia. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served with the 105th Atomic Artillery Battalion.
Survived by his wife of 42 years, Betty A. Smith; son, Ford Smith and his fiancé, Steina; brother, Archie Smith.
Funeral services will be held Monday Nov. 4 at 10 AM at Mars Hill Presbyterian Church, 3385 Mars Hill Road, Acworth, GA 30101, with remains placed instate at 9 am. Interment will follow in Mars Hill Church Cemetery.
Those who desire may make contributions, in lieu of flowers, to Mars Hill Presbyterian Church, Kenya Kids or the General Fund.
