Farrell had a wonderful and very interesting life. He left home to work as an apprentice electrician wiring houses for the workers at Oakridge Tennessee. After completing that job, he worked inside the Oakridge plant monitoring pressures and fluids for the atomic bomb. Upon leaving Oakridge he joined the US Air Force.
After serving in the Air Force he returned to Hayesville, North Carolina and married, Wanda Moss. They moved to Canton, Ohio where he worked for Debolt Machine Company. They returned to Hayesville in 1951. He then moved to Marietta, Georgia to work at Lockheed where he worked in the Experimental Engineering area for the next 35 years. During that time, he worked on many interesting projects, such as the C5A airplane and predicting where the first space capsule would land upon return.
After retiring, he and Wanda spent their time traveling and enjoying their grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Farrell is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda (Moss), and his six siblings, Willette Galloway, Eugene Hogsed, James Hogsed, Loretta Moss, and two infant brothers. He is survived by his loving children, Pamela Wilcox (Marietta, Georgia) and Penny Cook (Kennesaw, Georgia); his grandchildren, Andy Wilcox, Jonathan and Dawn Wilcox, Casey Cook, Emily and Ross Sacharow; and his Great-Grandchildren, Samantha, Ansleigh and Madison Wilcox and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
