Georgia Carol Erchakee, age 97 (twelve days short of 98), of Kennesaw, GA passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Born in Fayetteville, GA, Carol graduated from Fayette High School in 1946 and attended North Georgia College before beginning work at Prudential Insurance in Atlanta. She met her husband of almost 50 years, Charlie, in 1949 and married in 1950. They moved to Kansas where Charlie worked for Boeing until 1952 when he accepted a job at Lockheed and they moved to Kennesaw, GA where they became lifelong residents.
Carol became a housewife and raised four children while engaging in a hobby she enjoyed more than anything, socializing. She loved meeting new people and never met a stranger. A group of friends met every day at Martin’s in Kennesaw and Carol would table hop until she knew everyone in the restaurant. We were in Panama City one year, and two ladies who worked at Martin’s walked into the Japanese restaurant where we were eating and said, “Well Hello Miss Carol “.
Church was also an integral part of Carol’s life spending many years worshiping at Kennesaw United Methodist while participating in Sunday school, and the women’s groups acting as president, treasurer and secretary for many years. The Happy Voyagers traveled to various states seeing the sites and enjoying each other’s company.
Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband Charlie, daughter Melanie, and grandson Jae, parents O’Dell Walker and Mary Lou Huddleston as well as her brothers Don, Gene, and Joe and her sister Jewell. She leaves behind her children, David (Donna), Linda, Brenda, grandchildren Monica (Patrick), Shana (Paul), and Jonathan (Cyntra) and great grandchildren, Charlsey, Laney, Devyn, Jameson and soon to be great grandson AXE. She is also survived by her brother Barney Walker and wife Sue and numerous nieces and nephews.
The memorial will be held Sunday, April 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Kennesaw United Methodist Church, 1801 Ben King Road, Kennesaw. In accordance with Carol’s wishes, her body was donated to the Medical College of Georgia so that doctors can better treat people in need of medical services.
