

Helen Louise (Zimmerman) Wanek, 72, of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away on April 25, 2018 following a battle with lung cancer. Born in Saginaw, Michigan to Carl and Louise Zimmerman, she attended St. Peter and Paul and Arthur Hill High Schools. After working for Eaton Manufacturing and Meijer, she went on to Northwood University to provide her children the opportunity to attend and graduate with Bachelors Degrees.
In 1998, Helen joined her children in Atlanta and became a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. After working at Publix for almost 10 years, she retired to help raise her grandchildren and enjoy more time with her family. Helen is survived by her son David, his wife Colleen, their children Robert and Sutton, her daughter Susan, and her children Gabriel, Andrew, Cassandra, and Elena. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Beth Roberts, Mark Zimmerman, Joe Zimmerman and Gino Bartolini. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Carl Zimmerman, and sister Mary Jo Curran.
Helen was devoted to her children and she was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren with a cup of coffee in her hand. She loved gardening, playing Canasta and true crime television. Helen touched the lives of everyone she knew with her humor, her kindness and her selflessness. Her courage and strength during her illness was inspiring to all who knew her. In lieu of a funeral, a private celebration of her life will be held by her family.
