

James “Jimmy” Herbert Wilbur, Jr. passed away peacefully on May 5th, 2023, at 74 years, surrounded by his wife and children. Jimmy was born in Marietta, Georgia, on January 29, 1949, to James Herbert Wilbur Sr. & Ruby Wilbur. Right out of high school, Jimmy married his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Irene Miller and attended two years of vocational electronics at Southern Polytechnic University. Jimmy worked several jobs early on after high school including Lanier Electronics, Sears and Roebuck, the Standard Service Station, and Cobb County Schools Transportation. He then spent time at Lockheed Martin prior to going on to work at Georgia Power where he would work for 30 years until he was forced to retire in 2001 due to a stroke. Outside of work, Jimmy’s hobbies included fishing, golf, yard work, and cars, but above all, he loved spending time with his family. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis Wilbur, and his children, Shannon and her husband, Wes Anderson; Jamie Wilbur; Cam and his wife, Alison Wilbur; along with grandchildren James Wesley (Jake) Anderson III; Tatum Anderson Barber, and husband, Thomas Barber; Griffin Bogner; Carson Wilbur; and Kenley Wilbur. Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents. The family requests no flowers.
