

Jennifer was born on January 28, 1970 to Edward and Margaret McDevitt in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After Jennifer graduated from Washington Township High School in 1988, she went on to study Spanish at Millersville University where she ran track. At Millersville, Jennifer excelled at track and field becoming conference/state champion and school record holder in the 100m, 200m, and 4x1 and 4x4 relay.
After graduating with a degree in Spanish, she began her high school teaching career in southeast Pennsylvania. She then went on to earn her master’s degree in Spanish from Millersville University. Upon moving to Georgia in 2000, Jennifer taught at Kell, Lassiter, and McEachern High Schools in Cobb County before she found her home at North Paulding High School. There she taught Spanish and started an AP Spanish program. In 2016, she was named North Paulding Teacher of the Year.
In 1997, Jennifer married Mark Larson in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Over 24 years of marriage, they lived in Lancaster and Exton/Oxford PA before moving to Kennesaw Georgia in 2000. Jennifer and Mark were blessed in 2006 with their beautiful daughter, Gabrielle. Jennifer was so proud of Mark and Gabrielle!
When Jennifer moved to Kennesaw, she found a love of tennis. She excelled at very high levels, winning states and regionals for USTA and multiple city championships for ALTA.
After her diagnosis in 2018, Jennifer dedicated her life to her family and to God. She blessed everyone who came in contact with her and was a model of courage, strength and faith to all. She and her family were models of how to live in faith and love when presented with the hardest of circumstances.
Jennifer is survived by her devoted husband Mark, who lovingly cared for her during her illness, and her amazing daughter Gabrielle, who was such a beacon of light for her. She is also survived by her father Ed McDevitt and her mother Margaret McDevitt, as well as her brother Edward McDevitt (Lancaster, PA), her sister Amy Laughlin (Chester Springs, PA).
Visitation will be at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw Georgia on Wednesday, December 15th from 5:00-8:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at Saint Catherine of Sienna Church in Kennesaw on Thursday, December 16th at 12:00 pm. Live streaming will be available. Interment will follow at Winkenhofer Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Georgia Chapter of the ALS Association.
