Dear Youngblood family,

I was his biology teacher at Bryan College and had come to care deeply for John as my brother in Christ and as one whom God used to teach me the beauty of simple child-like faith when dealing with ongoing physical challenges.  John's life was a gift from God.  

I am praying Christ surrounds you with comfort, strength, and sustaining grace which will carry you through the upcoming days on a journey of healing.  We have strength and great hope in the fact that Christ has conquered the grave so death is no longer our final enemy.  John right now is fully healed in the presence Jesus more alive than we, and with a joy we can't fully experience in these bodies.  This hope anchors us knowing this parting is only temporary.

Virginia, you gave me a small framed picture with the word F R O G (forever rely on God).  I have this on my study desk.  Whenever I see it I think of you, and now even-more with John in mind whose life was lived as one dependent on God, a life who brought and will continue to bring God glory through his earthy testimony.

I remember John as a respectful and kind teenager. We enjoyed  going to your (Virginia) home and having “game” night , as well as other homeschool activities with John and family.

Unfortunately I did not get to see John a whole lot, but I was fortunate to see his wife and little girl frequently and got to know more about him through Beth Anne. 
   From what I could see, I missed out on someone special. R.W. Emerson said “it is not the length of life, but the depth of life” that matters. It seems that John has embodied this. He may not have had the length of time that we all would wish for, but from where I’m standing, he filled that time with the greatest riches this life can offer. 
   Strength is a blessing that John surely had in abundance. When I did see him, no matter the hurdle he was facing his spirit was high and he was always showing a smile. 
   Grace is also a blessing, and one that I think Beth Anne exemplifies. It’s not an easy one to learn though. While I’m sure there was fear and heartache at times, she too smiled and carried on. When I asked her about John she always talked about the things they were facing down together as if it was routine, and it was obvious that together they did not allow fear to take them away from caring for Emy, and making the most out of the time they all had together. For these reasons, I believe he had a full heart and a true love. My prayers will continue to be with you all, and if there is a way that I can help with anything, please let me know. 

John Benjamin was an unforgettable young man.  He had an enthusiasm and kindness that set him apart.   It's been easy to tell that John was a wonderful husband to his wife, and father to his beautiful little girl.   As we all step heavenward day by day, we who know the Lord can all share in the blessed hope of seeing John Benjamin again one day.  May The Lord bless you and hold you through your grief.  May He lift your heart in the saddest moments to know that there will be a reunion.  My love and sympathies to you and your family.   Cindy Brown

So sorry for your loss. I'll always remember performing in church choir musicals with John Benjamin and practicing the dance routines at our house. He was a joyful soul. 

I first met John as a newborn when I sat at the hospital with Virginia and Jerry.  He was a fighter then, and a fighter when I got to meet him again about a year ago.  I treasure getting to laugh with him and joke and enjoy a margarita with he and Beth Anne.  I saw Beth Anne fight for John and minister to him!  I’m so proud to have gotten to know John as a friend, and I’m so thankful that he is free from every pain and fear!  I love you, John, and I’ll stay on this earth to pray for all those you loved and who loved you!! You ran a good race, John...

So shocked and saddened to hear of John Benjamin's death.   We have so many memories of John and his sweet disposition in spite of all the medical issues he faced.  Dr Craig and I send our deepest sympathy and pray for the comfort of our great God and Savior.  

Dear Virginia and Jerry - I remember  when we had our golden retriever puppies. No boy ever loved  and cared for a puppy better than John Benjamin.  I will never forget seeing his joy when picking Penny up!  John Benjamin was a kind and thoughtful young man- we have so many good memories of him.   - .  May God bring you all comfort and Joyful remembrances.  I am grateful John Benjamin is with our Lord But sad with you all for how much you will miss him in this life.   Grace to you from our Lord-

So many favorite memories of John Benjamin are just flooding my brain. His little five-year old happy self valiantly playing T-ball with SOAR, when Bryn was on his team. His never ending optimism and eternal smile were such a joy ALL the time. He seemed to rarely have a bad day despite the health challenges he faced so bravely. He was always so polite and engaged with the people he met and seemed to genuinely enjoy talking with everybody about umpteen subjects. I am so sad he had to leave so early in his life, but understand that the Lord may have wanted him home.  He is leaving an amazing legacy of courage behind. I pray Emerson will always be proud of her father and I pray that Virginia and Jerry will conquer the loss of their child with support from friends and that God’s  presence will sustain them through this forever earthly loss until they meet again in Heaven.  I am so sorry.
