Joyce grew up in Miami, Florida. In her younger years she was a huge Elvis fan, enjoyed modeling and participating in many beauty pageants. Such pageants included the Betty Hub Pageant; the Orange Bowl Pageant, where she was a finalist; The Queen Isabella Pageant, where she was first runner up; and Queen of the Beta Sigma Phi Coronation Ball (Member of Beta Sigma Phi International belonging to Phi Alpha Upsilon Chapter and Nu Phi Mu Chapter). One of the most memorable job positions she held was as the secretary to The Jackie Gleason Show in Miami Beach. When she was modeling for the Miami Boat Show she met the love of her life, Bob, and they were married in 1969 and had two daughters. When the family moved to Georgia in 1980, they joined Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta and has been a member ever sense. She was very involved in several different areas - her favorites included being a member of the Holy Rollers bowling team, the Marriage Encounters Ministry, Welcoming Committee, and Sunday School classes. She taught 9th grade Sunday school class for a few years as well as worked in the church nursery. Joyce spent most of her working career as a Sales Representative for various companies; some of those companies included Trans Art, East Cobb Newcomers and Welcome Wagon, Rich’s Fine Jewelry as well as various Retail stores. Throughout her entire life Joyce had a love for animals like no other and passed that love on to her two daughters. When her girls were young she enjoyed watching and supporting them during their participation in various activities such as ballet, baton, jazz, clogging, Irish dance, softball tournaments, swim team, and local horse shows where the whole family was extremely active with the American Saddlebred Horse Association of Georgia (ASHAG). She was well known during her girl’s teenage years as the “stage mom”, chaperone, and chauffeur for all of their friends during their band, choir, and theatre years. Although her hobbies, work, and participation in the church were very important to her, nothing surpassed the love she had for her family. Joyce was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend; she will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Along with her parents Joyce is preceded in death by her loving husband of twenty-five years, Robert Bryan Parsons, III, and one brother, James Michael Fesko, Jr.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer Parsons of Canton, GA, and Holly Altman (son-in-law Jason Altman) of Loganville, GA; two sisters, Roberta Simpkin (brother-in-law Robert Simpkin) of Neptune, NJ, and Denise McAllister of Bluffton, SC; two nieces, Tina Fesko Willingham of Portland, OR, Susan Joseph (husband Kent Joseph) of Neptune, NJ; and great-nephews Kayshawn and Kylar Joseph; and great-niece, Khloe Joseph; and several extended family members and friends also survive.
