Maria Teresa (De Los Angeles) Salazar Fonseca was born on August 2, 1932 in San Jose, Costa Rica. She was the adopted daughter of Francisca Salazar Fonseca. Her father was Vilanzuela Salazar. She departed this life on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Southern Regional Medical Center, Morrow, GA at age 88 of Acute respiratory, and Acute Cardiac complications.
MariTere (as she came to be known in later years) completed her primary school in the Costa Rican public school system. She attended secondary school at the Colegio Vocacional Adventista de Alajuela, Costa Rica.
MariTere was joined in holy matrimony to Philibert L. Goodwill on January 4, 1956 in San Jose, Costa Rica. To that union were born five children: Filiberto J. Goodwill, Alexander A. Goodwill, Franz M. Goodwill, Deyane M. Goodwill, and Joseph S. Goodwill, Sr. She took great pride in her vocation as wife and mother with devotion and commitment. During the few years she worked as a Nurse's Aide she performed her duties with compassion and diligence.
In later years, although her health did not permit her to attend church regularly, she nevertheless remained a faithful and loyal member of the South Jonesboro 7th Day Adventist Hispanic Church where she had once served in the Community Services Department. MariTere enjoyed bike riding as a young lady, as well as sketching and drawing. As an adult she was an avid gardener- especially of her Oleanders (Hortensias) and Roses. She was known for her healthful cooking and baking, sewing and knitting, homemaking, and her memorization of Bible verses and chapters.
MariTere had a living faith and connection with the Lord. As her health steadily declined her faith and commitment to God increased. She was strong willed, generous, understanding, wise, gracious, dignified, moral, caring. She never complained about her illnesses.
