On Monday, June 25th, 2012, my brother, Marion David (DJ) Jordan (58), finished the battle with cancer as a real gentlemen and great warrior in the faith!

My brother who served during the Viet Nam war era as a gunners mate on the guided missile destroyer, the USS Furer, stationed out of Charleston SC, served with distinction and valor. DJ has now finished the battle with lung cancer. Ten beautiful young girls entered into David's room and sang to him as if we were "entertaining angels unaware" a couple of days prior to his home going celebration.
I thank God for my brother! He and I grew up together building go-carts, tree forts and hot rods while playing music in the Southern Rock n Roll Band "The Odyssey". He liked to fish in Florida as the photo illustrates and greatly enjoyed home made buttermilk and corn bread with salt, pepper and diced up Vidalia onions. He never married but sure enjoyed his seven nieces and two nephews. David would travel together with me often when on the road to Destin, Florida; Indianapolis, Indiana; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Branson, Missouri; Dallas, Texas, and numerous cities around the U.S.
In his last days here on earth I would visit him in the hospital to reminisce about old times together and would come to the conclusion that we were just like "Two Peas in a Pod" as we grew up in Cobb County, Georgia! We would join two fingers with one another with a smile on our faces making eye contact as two brothers inextricably connected for life.
As an honorably discharged navy corpsman David was 100% disabled from service related causes and was under the care of the Veterans Administration Hospital when he died so full military honors are due including Taps played on the trumpet, folding of the American flag and the twenty-one gun salute.
David's funeral will be held at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Cherokee County located approximately five miles from Canton on Hwy. #20 in route to Cartersville.
